On Pulwama Attack Anniversary, CRPF Says Only One Martyr Family Yet To Get Compensation

Apart from financial benefits, 19 next of kin of Pulwama martyrs have also been allotted residential flats by CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India), while the rest 21 cases are under process.

New Delhi: The Central Reserve Police Force on Friday said compensation to the families of 40 Pulwama martyrs has been made except in one case. The CRPF response came amid reports claiming that the next of kin of the Pulwama martyrs were yet to receive their financial dues and benefits. In a statement, the paramilitary force said, "While no amount of assistance can ever match up to the supreme sacrifice made by the martyrs for the cause of the motherland, the next of kins of each of the Pulwama martyrs except one have already been paid all financial dues and benefits as applicable. "The total amount paid to each of the martyr's next of kin ranges from Rs 2.16 crore to Rs 3.24 crore," CRPF added. The assistance which is due to the next of kin of one of the martyrs is held up as the decision on legal heir is pending in court. All the families are getting last pay drawn as monthly pension, CRPF said. Apart from financial benefits, 19 next of kin of Pulwama martyrs have also been allotted residential flats by CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India), while the rest 21 cases are under process. Seventeen next of kin of the martyrs have also been offered jobs by various state governments, CRPF added. Forty CRPF personnel, travelling in a convoy on the Jammu and Kashmir highway in Pulwama district, were killed on February 14 last year when a suicide bomber rammed a car loaded with explosives into a CRPF bus around 3.15 p.m. at Awantipora's Goripura. Following the attack, banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility and even released a video of the purported attacker.
