On Eid eve, J&K government orders release of 115 prisoners

SRINAGAR: In view of the Eid ul Fitr, the Jammu and Kashmir government ordered the release of 115 prisoners on Friday. From various jails of the State, the selected prisoners are the ones with least involvement in serious crimes.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, it may be recalled, had directed undertaking an exercise to release all those prisoners found not involved in serious crimes so that they can celebrate Eid with their families. The concerned agencies after undertaking the exercise decided to take a lenient view and affect their release.
