Omicron Scare: Section 144 Imposed In Mumbai Till December 31 | Read Guidelines

Omicron: With the growing threat of Omicron, the new variant of Corona, Mumbai Police has now imposed Section 144 in the city.

New Delhi: Omicron cases seem to be going up rapidly in the country. Due to the fear of the new Corona variant, Omicron, Mumbai Police has now imposed Section 144 of the CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure) in the city.

As per sources Section 144 will be enforced in Mumbai city from today till December 31 and there will be a complete ban on the gathering of a large number of people. This decision has been taken in view of the risk posed by the new variant Omicron and preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

Police further stated that people can participate in any event only at 50 percent capacity of the place designated for the event. It will also be mandatory for the organisers of these events to be fully vaccinated.

It should be noted that the order to impose Section 144 in Mumbai from today was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) on Monday.

According to the health department, 4 new cases of Omicron variant have recently been confirmed in Maharashtra. Two of these patients are from Osmanabad and one each from Mumbai and Buldhana. Up till now 32 people in the state have been infected with Omicron and 25 of them have recovered from infection.

Covid Cases In Maharashtra

Apart from Omicron cases in the state, 921 corona cases were reported on Wednesday and 10 patients have died. Currently, 6467 patients are undergoing treatment in the state.

According to the health department, 6646061 patients have been infected in the state so far and 6494617 out of them have recovered from the infection. 141298 patients have died.
