No good Hindu wants Ram Temple at Babri site, says Congress leader Shashi Tharoor

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor addressed the Ayodhya dispute and said that no 'good' Hindu would want a Ram temple built after demolishing another religion's place of worship.

New Delhi: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Sunday gave a statement against  the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya, saying that good Hindus do not want the temple to be constructed at the disputed site of Babri Masjid.  He said that no 'good' Hindu would want a Ram temple built after demolishing another religion's place of worship. The Congress MP was speaking at The Hindu’s Lit For Life Dialogue 2018 in Chennai on the topic ‘India: Issues and Opportunities.' The daily quoted him as saying: “While a vast majority of Hindus believes that Ayodhya was the birthplace of Lord Ram, no good Hindu would want to see a Ram temple built “by demolishing somebody else’s place of worship.” He also said that as a Hindu, he was also very conscious that a wide majority of Hindus wanted a Ram temple to be built at the site, the daily reported. "To my knowledge, Hinduism is all about acceptance", the literary fest body tweeted quoting Tharoor. He was quoted as saying: “I think we have to brace ourselves for some more unpleasantness in the months to come because there has been a correlation, in the not so distant past, between the advent of elections and the stoking of religious passions, communal rioting. That’s indeed my worry.” Tharoor,  who is recognized for his verbal eloquence was in conversation with Gopal Krishna Gandhi, former Governor of West Bengal. Recently, Tharoor made news as he baffled the internet when he introduced his new book ‘The Paradoxical Prime Minister’ with a nearly unpronounceable word ‘floccinaucinihilipilification’.
