No Differences Between Me And Sachin Pilot, Will Contest Rajasthan Elections Together: Ashok Gehlot

Gehlot also announced the formation of 19 new districts and three new divisions. This is the first time since 2008 that new districts have been carved out in Rajasthan.

New Delhi: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said there are no differences between him and Sachin Pilot and both of them will contest the upcoming Assembly elections together, news agency ANI reported.

While speaking to media persons after meeting Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi, Ashok Gehlot said there are "small differences" among leaders in every party and in every state, but he will contest the upcoming elections with Sachin Pilot.

“There are no differences...Small differences keep happening in our party, it happens with all parties in every state. But we'll contest elections together, win and form government,” ANI quoted Gehlot as saying.

“We contest elections together, win them together and then we accept the decisions of the high command. This has been the tradition and this will continue to be the tradition,” the chief minister added.

It is to be noted that Rajasthan is about to hold its assembly elections later this year. Ahead of the polls, CM Gehlot made several attempts to boost the image of the party by announcing several policies.

Earlier on Friday, Gehlot also announced the formation of 19 new districts and three new divisions. This is the first time since 2008 that new districts have been carved out in Rajasthan, taking the total number to 50.

The chief minister said a high-level committee was formed to look into the formation of the districts and it had submitted its report to the government. "The state will now have 19 new districts," Gehlot said during a discussion on the budget. The three new divisions will be in Banswara, Pali and Sikar, he added.

"Small districts lead to effective administration and management, and control over law and order becomes easier. Various states have formed new districts. So there was a demand within the state for these new districts," the chief minister added.

According to reports, Gehlot also proposed a budget of Rs 2,000 crore for the first phase of infrastructure and human resource development in the new districts and divisions.
