No Confidence Motion: Rahul Gandhi hugs PM Narendra Modi in Parliament

No confidence motion: The hearing is set to begin at 11 am and the voting is likely to happen in the evening where the Narendra Modi-led Government is be facing its first no-confidence motion, four years after winning the 2014 mandate as the first single-party majority in three decades.

NEW DELHI: In Lok Sabha, during the heated argument over the no-confidence motion put forward by TDP, Rahul Gandhi hugged PM Narendra Modi towards the end of his speech. In the initial part of his argument, INC president Gandhi lashed out at BJP government and asked PM to explain why a particular businessman was allegedly favoured. Participating in the debate on the 'No Confidence Motion' against the government, said that the French prime minister has personally told me that there is no secret pact between the Indian and the French governments. Gandhi, who was leading the debate from the Congress in the Parliament has been given 38 minutes to present their arguments in the parliament accused Defence Minister of speaking "untruth" over Rafale deal. Reacting to Rahul's speech, BJP tweeted, We cannot thank you enough for the entertainment! #NoConfidenceMotion. On Twitter, BJP also said Rahul Gandhi is lying on Rafale deal. Here is what French President Emmanuel Macron had to say on the deal - "Obviously you have competitors and we can't let them know details of the deal. In India and in France, when the deal is very sensitive, we can't reveal details." The ruling BJP, which enjoys a majority in the House, has been given 3 hours and 33 minutes in the debate during the Monsoon session, which is scheduled for seven hours. To defeat the no-confidence motion, the BJP would require to gain a mark of 268 votes. The NDA at present counts 312 members in the 535-member Lok Sabha, including 274 of the BJP.
