At Niti Aayog Meet, PM Modi Pitches For Boosting Private Sector To Become Part Of Govt's Aatmanirbhar Programme

The Prime Minister said the Niti Aayog’s Governing Council meet becomes even more significant now as India is going to celebrate 75 years of independence.

New Delhi: Asserting the Centre and state governments should work together to make cooperative federalism even more meaningful, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday there is a need to bring competitive and cooperative federalism not only among the states but districts as well. Prime Minister Modi, who chaired the sixth meeting of NITI Aayog’s Governing Council via video conferencing, said there is a need “to bring competitive and cooperative federalism not only among states but also districts”. While speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister also made a strong case for repealing archaic laws and making it easier to do business in India, stating that both centre and states need to work closely to boost economic growth. However, the Prime Minister Modi also pointed out that India built a good image before the world as both Centre and states worked together to battle the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Addressing the sixth Governing Council meeting of Niti Aayog, he said that the private sector should be given full opportunity to become a part of government's Aatmanirbhar Bharat programme.

The Prime Minister said the Niti Aayog’s Governing Council meet becomes even more significant now as India is going to celebrate 75 years of independence.

Asserting there has been a phenomenal change in the lives of the poor, Prime Minister Modi said India has in the past few years witnessed opening of bank accounts, free electricity and free gas connections besides increase in vaccination and health facilities.

Express his delight over the Budget receiving a “positive response”, Prime Minister Modi said the Indians have now made up their mind to progress rapidly and don't waste further time.

He also lauded the country’s youth for playing a major role in setting the national mood.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar besides other Chief Ministers attended the meeting along with several ex-officio members of the council, vice chairperson Rajiv Kumar, members and CEO of Niti Aayog Amitabh Kant.
