New Delhi: In tune with the ever changing needs of kitchen, the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) has introduced a new cylinder for its customers called the Composite cylinder. One of the main features of this new cylinder is that you will get to analyse how much gas is left and how much has been spent.

What are main features of the cylinder?

Known as composite cylinder, the latest LPG offering from IndianOil has a three-layered construction. The cylinder is made up of a blow-molded High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) inner liner and covered with a composite layer of polymer-wrapped fiber glass and fitted with a HDPE outer jacket.

The cylinders are rust-free and not prone to corrosion which reduces the chances of leaving stains and marks on surfaces.

Aesthetically designed, the cylinder looks visually appealing and ideal for modern kitchens.

At present, the composite cylinders are available at select distributors in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Faridabad and Ludhiana in 5 kg and 10 kg sizes.

Note that the 10 kg variant is sold only under the domestic non-subsidized category whereas the 5 kg variant is available under the domestic non-subsidised category and as free trade LPG (FTL) through various point of sale options.

What are the advantages of composite cylinders over existing steel cylinders?

According to the IOCL website, the composite cylinders are lightweight and the tare weight of a composite cylinder is half of its steel counterpart. Customers will be able to track the LPG level against light because of the translucent body which will help customers plan their next refill easily.

Indane customers can replace their existing steel cylinder with the composite cylinder by paying the difference in security deposit.

The security deposit for the domestic non-subsidized category is kept at Rs. 3350 for the 10 kg variant and Rs. 2150 for the 5 kg variant.
