Deuba is scheduled to meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today. He will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.

New Delhi: Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will arrive on a three-day visit to India today. It is for the first time that the Prime Minister will make an official visit to a foreign country after assuming office in July 2021.

Deuba is scheduled to meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today, reported news agency ANI. He will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, besides other engagements.

A high level delegation will accompany Deuba on his visit. The Nepal PM is visiting India on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Deuba will also visit the holy city of Varanasi - PM Modi's Lok Sabha constituency - in Uttar Pradesh.

India and Nepal share a strong bond politically and culturally. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a press release emphasised on the strong relations both the countries share and said that PM Deuba's visit will help strengthen the bond further for the betterment of the people.

"In recent years, the partnership has witnessed significant growth in all areas of cooperation. The upcoming visit will provide an opportunity to the two sides to review this wide-ranging cooperative partnership and to progress it further for the benefit of the two peoples," read the MEA release, as reported by ANI.

Sher Bahadur Deuba was sworn in as Prime Minister of Nepal in July 2021. Soon after he won the Vote of Confidence in the Parliament PM Narendra Modi extended a congratulatory message to Deuba and also had a telephonic conversation with him  after the victory.

Deuba's political career spans over seven decades. This is his fifth term as the Prime Minister of Nepal since being elected for the first term in September 1995.
