'Neither Asked For It, Nor Want It': Kumar Vishwas On Y-Category Security Cover

Kumar Vishwas on Saturday stated he had not received any communication from the authorities.

New Delhi: After the central government had granted Kumar Vishwas 'Y category' protection, the former AAP leader stated he had not received any communication from the authorities.

“Neither I asked for Y category security nor do I want it. I have not received any message from the authorities about the security. It is the work of the agencies and government to think about the security of their citizens," Vishwas was quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle.

The news agency claimed earlier today that the Centre has awarded Vishwas 'Y' category protection. This comes just days after Vishwas accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal of connections to separatist groups.

According to the report, Vishwas would now be protected by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men.

Vishwas, a former Aam Aadmi Party leader, reportedly claimed that Kejriwal had contacts with separatists in Punjab and that separatist sympathisers used to gather at his residence for meetings during the previous assembly elections.

Following the claims, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi wrote to the Centre requesting an investigation into the allegations.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed Channi that the Centre has taken the alleged ties between the illegal organisation 'Sikhs for Justice' and the AAP seriously and that he would personally ensure that the subject is thoroughly investigated.
