NEET PG Exam To Be Held On August 3 After Nod From Supreme Court

The Supreme Court approved the NEET PG 2025 exam to be held on August 3rd, as requested by the NBE, citing logistical challenges in conducting a single-shift exam requiring 1,000 centers.

The NEET PG exam will be held on August 3 after the Supreme Court approved the NBE’s request to postpone the exam to this new date.

A bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Augustine George Masih hearing the matter, initially questioned National Board of Examination's (NBE) ask for more than two months time for holding the examination.

Later, the court allowed the NBE to conduct the exam on said date saying the reasons cited for holding NEET-PG 2025 on August 3 appear to be bonafide.

However, the apex court also made it clear that no further time will be granted to NBE for holding the NEET-PG 2025 examination which will be held in a single shift on August 3.

NEET PG Exam To Be Held In Single Shift

The NBE argued that according to the May 30 order of the Supreme Court, the examination has to be held in one shift, and therefore, for holding the exam at one go, around 1,000 examination centre were needed, reported PTI.

The NBE further stated in its plea that it would conduct the examination on August 3, which was the earliest possible date given by their technology partner Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS). Earlier, the entrance exam to post-graduate medical courses was scheduled to be held on June 15 between 9 am and 12:30 pm.

The NBE had sought the top court's "permission to schedule the NEET PG 2025 on August 3, which is the earliest possible available date given by its technology partner TCS in accordance with the directions passed by this vide order dated May 30, 2025", as per the report.

On May 30, the Supreme Court had rebuked the NBE's decision to hold the exam in two shifts.

The court had ordered conducting the post-graduate medical entracne exam scheduled on June 15 in a single shift as two shifts created "arbitrariness" in its opinion.
