With 2024 Lok Sabha Elections In Focus, BJP-Led NDA Meeting Begins In Delhi

The 38 constituents of the National Democratic Alliance, led by the BJP, will meet in Delhi at 4 PM to strategise for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP-led NDA is holding deliberations with 37 of its partners in the National Democratic Front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections at a mega meeting in Delhi. PM Modi received a standing ovation as the meeting began at the Kalinga Hall of the Ashoka Hotel in Delhi.

The NDA meeting comes on a day that the united Opposition of 26 parties is discussing the poll strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The NDA's meeting will begin at 4 PM on Tuesday in Delhi, when the Opposition meeting ends in Bengaluru. BJP president JP Nadda said that the increase in the number of NDA partners from 24 in 1998 to 38 in 2023 showed the scale of expansion of the alliance and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity.

PM Modi's Attack On Opposition

Ahead of the NDA meeting, PM Narendra Modi attacked the Opposition, especially, the Congresss. PM Modi said: “Ye to kattar bhrashtachari sammelan ho raha hai (it is a gathering of hardcore corrupt people),” PM Modi said, a reference to the Aam Aadmi Party's claim of it being a "kattar imaandaar (extremely honest)" party.

The Prime Minister again attacked the Congress, accusing it of promoting familialism and dynast politics. "Indians never lacked capabilities and capacities, but the corrupt Dynastic Parties always meted out injustice to them and made India bear the consequences. Democracy means 'of the people, by the people, for the people'. But these Parivarvaadi Parties have a mantra of 'of the family, by the family, for the family'; for them, their family is first, and the nation is nothing," PM Modi said.

He also said that the Opposition looks at a family, all of whose members are out on bail in corruption cases, are looked at with respect. "If a minister of a party goes to jail in a corruption case, he gets extra points. If someone is found guilty of money laundering in crores, his eligibility to participate in the meeting increases as the others seek guidance from them."

'Law Will Take Its Own Course': Nadda On 'Corrupt' Leaders In NDA

A day before the NDA's meeting, BJP chief Nadda was asked about the induction of leaders that his party called "corrupt". To this, he replied that the "law will take its own course" and asserted that the BJP was determined to achieve its goal of a strong nation, reported The Indian Express. He also said that the BJP has "no problem" if others pledged support to its goals as everyone has to be "part of development". He also said that the BJP was the only party that pursued issues (like Ayodhya Ram Mandir and Article 370) ideologically.
