The fresh attack aimed to re-ignite the wounds of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks as it was slated to be carried out on the same day. According to sources, the police recovered a digital mobile radio from the slain terrorists, which have shown some text messages from Pakistani handlers. Besides that, the police have also seized Pakistani handsets and Pakistani Sim Cards. Meanwhile, Pakistan Cd’A was summoned by the Ministry of External Affairs and a strong protest was registered at the attempted attack, which was prevented by the alertness of the Indian security forces. MEA also reiterated the long-standing demand that Pakistan fulfill its international obligations and bilateral commitments to not allow any territory under its control to be used for terrorism against India in any manner. "The Government of India is firmly and resolutely committed to taking all necessary measures to safeguard its national security in the fight against terrorism," the statement by MEA read. JeM has been part of several attacks in India in the past, including the Pulwama attack in February 2019.
