N Chandrasekaran named new group chairman of Tata Sons

New Delhi: The TCS chief Natarajan Chandrasekaran is all set to become Tata Sons' new Chairman, in place of Cyrus Mistry reported PTI citing sources. Country's $100 billion salt-to-software conglomerate Tata Sons named N Chandrasekaran as their new chairman on Thursday, sources said. Who is Natarajan Chandrasekaran?
  • N Chandrasekaran was CEO and managing director of Tata Consultancy Services. He took over as the CEO on October 6, 2009 prior to which he was COO and Executive Director of TCS.
  • Chandrasekaran is one of the youngest CEOs of the Tata Group.
  • Chandrasekaran has spent his career in TCS. He joining the company in 1987 after completing Masters in Computer Applications from Regional Engineering College, Trichy, (now National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli) in TN.
  • Under Chandrasekaran's leadership TCS has generated consolidated revenues of US $16.5 billion in 2015-16
About Tata Sons Tata Sons is the holding company of the listed Tata group companies in a business empire ranging from Jaguar Land Rover and steel mills to aviation and salt pans. Tata Sons ousted its chairman Cyrus Mistry in October, sparking a bitter public debate. Ratan Tata who is patriarch of one of India’s most influential families, had taken over as interim chairman of Tata Sons after the board ousted Cyrus Mistry. Tata Sons’ board, in October, had set up a five-member selection committee including Ratan Tata to choose a new chairman within the next four months.
