Mumbai Records 2,510 Fresh Covid Infections, Steepest Surge In Last 7 Months
The recent tally of daily infections comes hours after Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said stricter measures will be imposed to stem the infection spread.
Mumbai: Amid the ongoing threat of Omicron variant, Mumbai recorded as many as 2,510 new cases of Coronavirus on Wednesday. This is a significant rise from 1,333 infections reported a day ago.
251 patients were discharged in the city in last 24 hours. A total of 7,48,788 patients have recovered in Mumbai till date. Currently, there are 8,060 active cases of Coronavirus in the city.
Recover rate in Mumbai stands at 97 per cent.

The recent tally of daily infections comes hours after Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope expressed concern over the alarming situation and said stricter measures will be imposed to stem the infection spread.
Tope has urged people and authorities to exercise caution at a time when the new coronavirus variant Omicron has fuelled worries about a fresh spurt in cases.
He also emphasised on strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols and ramping up of vaccination against the infection. Looking at the rising Coronavirus numbers, stricter measures will be imposed, the minister said but did not provide details on the nature of curbs.
In the view of alarming rise in Covid-19 cases, curbs have been clamped in Mumbai and it have to be observed strictly at parties and other public events.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, Maharashtra reported 3,900 fresh coronavirus cases and 20 new deaths, as per state's Health Department.
