Mumbai: MNS workers attack North Indian hawkers in Ghatkopar

New Delhi: MNS workers on Wednesday evening assaulted hawkers in Mumbai reviving their stand of violence against North Indians settled in the financial city. The hate crime was faced by poor fruit sellers in Ghatkopar who were publicly beaten up and verbally abused by MNS goons. Around 5-10 MNS activists arrived in Amrut Nagar last evening and after shouting slogans began beating up the hawkers and vandalizing their carts. 1 The hawkers were threatened to leave the area and return to their hometown.   The fresh violence is seen as a bid to garner Marathi votes by the Raj Thackeray-headed party ahead of the BMC elections that is slated to take place in 2017. 23 MNS is also flexing its political muscle in Ghatkopar where its former party leader Ram Kadam is a MLA with the BJP.
