Mumbai: Major fire breaks out in high-rise residential building in Chembur; five killed
The fire broke out in 14th floor of residential high-rise building of Sargam Society in Chembur, Mumbai.
New Delhi: A major fire broke out in Mumbai’s Tilak Nagar on Thursday night, in which five people have reportedly been killed and two have been injured so far as the fire-fighting operation continued.
Those deceased include two women, while the two injured included a fireman.
The fire broke out in 14th floor of residential high-rise building of Sargam Society in Chembur, Mumbai.
Mumbai Fire Brigade has started a search and rescue operation in the 16-storey building located in the suburban Tilak Nagar, the officials from the Disaster Management Unit of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
As per reports, the fire control room was informed about the incident at 7.51pm after which fire-fighting team along with an ambulance rushed to the spot," he added.
"The blaze started on the 10th floor of the building, Sargam Society (G+16), located near Ganesh Garden in Tilak Nagar,"PTI reported quoting a Fire Brigade official. The fire brigade team rescued four people from the floor and admitted them to the nearby Rajawadi Hospital, where three people, including two women, were declared dead by the hospital authorities, the official said.
The fourth person, who received injuries, is undergoing treatment at the hospital, he said. The fire has been brought under control, but its cause will be known only after an inquiry, the official added.
