Mumbai Local Resumes: Railways To Offer Full Local Services From Today; Check Schedule Of Trains

Western Railway and Central Railway will start all suburban services by increasing the existing 2,781 services to 2,985 services on Mumbai Suburban network with effect from January 29.

Mumbai Local Trains: Even as Mumbai local train services resumed after a hiatus due to pandemic, trains were still not running in full capacity. Now, trains are expected to finally resume its services from Friday. The decision regarding the resumption of trains by Central Railways have been taken after a review meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray which was attended by government, railway and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, as per the report in Mumbai Mirror. What is the schedule of local trains to run from today?

The Western Railway is planning to open local trains for all commuters from Friday, as per the Mumbai Mirror report. A letter has been sent to all the station masters by the Traffic Control Department of the Mumbai Central Division of Western Railway regarding the services.

In fact, news agency ANI also reported that Western Railway and Central Railway will start all suburban services by increasing the existing 2,781 services to 2,985 services on Mumbai Suburban network with effect from January 29.

Central Railway has decided to increase the suburban services from the existing 1,580 to 1,685 services and Western Railway has decided to increase the existing 1,201 suburban services to 1,300 services with effect from January 29, the CPRO of both zones informed the press.

On the other hand Western Railways has also shared the update on train services on microblogging platform Twitter on Friday.

" rel='nofollow'>/WesternRly/status/1355006985964So far only certain categories of commuters, including those providing essential services and women, can travel by local because of the pandemic. Others have been asked not to rush to the stations.

All commuters have been advised to adhere to all norms, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to Covid-19 during the boarding, travel and at the destination.

It also noted for the convenience of passengers and to meet the travel demand, WR has extended the run of nine pairs of special trains of which seven pairs will originate/terminate over WR & two pairs will pass over WR stations. These trains will run as fully reserved trains.
