MUDA Chairman K Mari Gowda Resigns As Siddaramaiah Row Rages On, Cites Health Reasons

The accusations involve the alleged illegal allocation of 14 sites by MUDA to CM Siddaramaiah's wife, B.M. Parvati, in an upscale area of Mysuru city.

K. Mari Gowda, Chairman of the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), resigned from his post on Wednesday, citing health issues. His resignation comes in the wake of the ongoing "MUDA Scam," which has caused embarrassment for the ruling Congress party in Karnataka. Mari Gowda, a close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, had assumed the position of MUDA chairman on March 1 of this year.

Before submitting his resignation, Marigowda met with CM Siddaramaiah at his Cauvery residence for a brief discussion.

Speaking to media persons after resigning, Marigowda, as per IANS, said: "I have resigned as my health is not good. The MUDA investigation is going on and let that continue. I won't comment on whether it is a scam or not. The investigation is underway and the truth will come out."

While Mari Gowda has clarified that there was no pressure from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the MUDA controversy, the high-profile case has drawn public attention due to allegations of illegal land allotment. The accusations involve the alleged illegal allocation of 14 sites by MUDA to CM Siddaramaiah's wife, B.M. Parvati, in an upscale area of Mysuru city.

He also said that he suffered two strokes and was in poor health.

Recently, Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi, voluntarily surrendered 14 sites allotted to her by MUDA.

Despite the mounting controversy, CM Siddaramaiah has maintained his composure. Responding to the issue, he stated, "There have always been blessings of God on me. There is no phase in my life where God has not blessed me, and that is how I have been in politics for such a long time." He made the comment while reflecting on his long political career and his participation in offering floral tributes to Goddess Chamundeshwari during the Dasara festival.
