'Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai': Congress On Pragya Thakur Being Named In Defence Ministry Panel
Opposition leaders like Farooq Abdullah, TMC's Sougata Roy, DMK's A. Raja and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar are in the 21-member Parliamentary Consultative Committee.
New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday flayed the Modi government over the appointment of controversial BJP leader Pragya Thakur to a crucial consultative committee on defence and said it was "unfortunate for the country". According to a bulletin issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Thakur will be part of the 21-member committee headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
"It is unfortunate for the country that an MP accused of spreading terror has been nominated as member of a defence-related committee. Modi 'has not been able to forgive her from the heart' but she has been given the responsibility of important issues such as the country's defence.
"That is why if there is Modi, anything is possible," Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a tweet in Hindi.
Thakur had defeated Congress heavyweight Digvijaya Singh in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.
Opposition leaders like Farooq Abdullah, TMC's Sougata Roy, DMK's A. Raja and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar are in the 21-member Parliamentary Consultative Committee.

Rabble-rouser Thakur has courted multiple controversies with her remarks during general polls.
She had descibed Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, a patriot following which the BJP had issued a showcause notice to her.
In her another distasteful remark, she said the then Mumbai ATS chief Hemant Karkare had died during the 26/11 terror attack because of her "curse".
