Noida Metro Hospital Fire: Situation under control as blaze doused, patients evacuated
A rescue operation is underway and fire tenders are working to douse the fire and patients, who were admitted to the hospital, have now been shifted to a nearby branch of the same hospital.
NEW DELHI: A massive fire broke out on the 3rd and 4th floor of the Metro Hospital in Noida’s sector 12 on Thursday. The authorities have not been able to ascertain the cause of the fire in the private hospital. While talking to ABP News, Metro Hospital chairman Purshotam Lal said that the fire was small in nature and no patient was injured in the accident.
It is reported that operations is underway in operation theatre of the hospital when the fire broke. Around 30-40 people have been rescued till now by authorities.
Videos images from the site show people trying to break hospital windows in order to leave. Thick smoke could also be seen billowing out of the building in Sector 12 where people were standing on ledges in balconies as rescuers tried to reach them by breaking window panes.
Patients have now been shifted to a nearby branch of the same hospital's Sector-11 branch. Rescue operation is underway and around 12 fire tenders are working to douse the fire.
The blaze at Noida's Metro hospital serves us a timely reminder of the inferno at Kolkata’s Calcutta Medical College last year. The fire had broken out in the dispensary of the state-run Medical College and Hospital on October 3 last year. As many as 250 patients were evacuated from the premises, fire officials had said.
