One Reported Dead In Fire At Delhi’s Patparganj Industrial Area; 30 Fire Tenders At Spot

As many as 30 fire tenders are present at the spot engaged in the operation to douse the fire.

New Delhi: A massive fire has broken out in a three-storeyed paper printing press in Patparganj Industrial area of East Delhi in the wee hours of Thursday. A call to report the fire was received at 2.38 am after which more than 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, an official said, adding the fire was brought under control by 8 am. The cooling process is now underway. A search is also being done to see anyone is still trapped in the building, the official said. He said the fire had engulfed the ground, first and second floors of the building, except the basement. One person has died in the accident; deputy chief fire officer Sunil Chaudhary said. He said that no more people are suspected to be trapped in the building, however, operations are underway. Watch: The incident comes a week after a massive fire broke out at a factory in Delhi’s Peeragarhi. During rescue operations a blast occurred, causing the collapse of the factory building in which several people, including fire brigade personnel were trapped. A firefighter succumbed to injuries after he got trapped under the debris for about 9 hours at the battery manufacturing factory in Outer Delhi's Mundka area.
