Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday on Sunday lauded the people of Kutch for facing Cyclone Biparjoy with "full courage". "The strength of disaster management that India has developed over the years is becoming an example today. Cyclone Biparjoy wreaked so much havoc in Kutch, but the people of Kutch faced it with full courage and preparedness," said Prime Minister Modi during his monthly radio broadcast Mann Ki Baat's 102nd episode.

Mann Ki Baat, usually broadcast on the last Sunday of every month, took place a week before this time as Modi is scheduled for his visit to the United States next week.  

"Usually 'Mann Ki Baat' comes to you on the last Sunday of every month, but this time it is happening a week earlier. As you all know, I will be in America next week and the schedule there is going to be very busy, so I thought what could be better than the blessings of the people to give me energy," he said. 

Calling it a "collective power" he said it every challenge. "Be it the biggest goal, be it the toughest challenge, the collective force of the people of India, the collective power, solves every challenge."

Speaking of the valour of Chhatrapati Shivaji, PM Modi said a lot was to be learned from his governance along with his bravery. "His management skills particularly water management and the Navy still remain the pride of India."

In his radio broadcast, Modi said that India has a target eradicating tuberculosis by 2025.

Modi talked about a Japanese technique called Miyawaki which is used to make an area green where the soil is not fertile and said that the technique was slowly and gradually being seen in India as well. 

"Teacher Raafi Ramnath from Kerala used this technique to create a mini forest called 'Vidyavanam' with over 115 varieties. Many students and people visit this Miyawaki forest."

"This technique is getting popular in the world and is being used in many countries. I appeal to all the people of the nation especially one who are living in the urban areas, to use this technique and learn more about this," he added.   

PM Modi lauded the youth for their "enthusiasm" and participation at Khelo India University Games in Uttar Pradesh. 

"Our youth have made eleven records in these games. Earlier there was a time when India used to get information about international events but usually, India was nowhere in that but today we have a long list of successes. This shows the power of the youth of the country." 

Speaking ahead of International Yoga Day, he said the theme for this year will be 'Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' which expresses the spirit of Yoga that unites and takes us together" and said that he will "lead a yoga session for the first time at UN Headquarters on the 9th International Day of Yoga."
