Manmohan Singh Memorial Row: PV Narasimha Rao’s Grandson Slams Congress ‘Hypocrisy’ Over ‘Historical Injustice’
NV Subhash mentioned how the Congress allegedly denied a memorial in Delhi for former PM PV Narasimha Rao, who was instrumental in initiating India’s economic reforms.
In a strong statement, NV Subhash, the grandson of former PM PV Narasimha Rao and BJP leader, launched a scathing critique of the Congress party, accusing it of hypocrisy in honouring its leaders. He mentioned how the Congress allegedly denied a memorial in Delhi for former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao who was instrumental in initiating India’s economic reforms.
Subhash accused the Congress of mistreating PV Rao, who remained loyal to the party throughout his career, by denying him the dignity of an official program in Delhi during his funeral in 2004.
The Congress and Kharge criticizing PM @narendramodi Ji for the delay in Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji's memorial is baseless and hypocritical.

Union Home Minister @AmitShah Ji has already informed @kharge and Dr. #ManmohanSingh Ji’s family

He alleged that this decision was driven by Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her associates, reflecting the party’s disregard for one of its most significant leaders. The BJP, on the other hand, posthumously honoured PVNR by awarding him the Bharat Ratna, acknowledging his contributions to the nation.
Subhash further criticised the Congress for its treatment of other leaders that the party failed to convene a condolence meeting after the death of former President Pranab Mukherjee while falsely claiming such meetings are not held for Presidents. He also criticised Congress for its failure to build a memorial for PVNR during its rule, contrasting this with its recent demands for Dr Singh’s memorial.
While acknowledging Dr Manmohan Singh as a great leader deserving of respect, Subash emphasised that true recognition involves consistent acknowledgement of contributions, not selective treatment based on convenience or dynastic preferences. He asserted that the BJP has demonstrated a more mature and fair approach to politics, treating all leaders with dignity, unlike the Congress, which has repeatedly engaged in what he described as petty politics.
