Man Arrested For Giving Death Threat To Sharad Pawar, Claims He Was Agitated As His Wife Eloped With NCP Worker

According to authorities, the accused, 46, resided in Pune with his wife for ten years before moving to Bihar.

New Delhi: An official said on Thursday that a man detained for allegedly making a death threat call to NCP president Sharad Pawar, has informed the Mumbai Police that he committed the crime because he was irritated after his wife eloped with an NCP member and the party boss did not assist in the situation, news agency PTI reported.

According to authorities, the accused, 46, resided in Pune with his wife for ten years before moving to Bihar.

According to the official, the Mumbai Police arrested the accused from Patna on Wednesday for allegedly sending a murder threat to Pawar by calling his landline phone, PTI reported.

"The man was placed under arrest. After his interrogation in the case, he was produced in a court here, which remanded him in police custody for two days," he was quoted by PTI in its report.

"During his questioning, the man claimed that he lived in Pune with his wife for 10 years before shifting to Bihar. As per the claim made by the accused, during his stay in Pune, his wife abandoned him and married another man, who was an NCP worker," the official said, PTI reported.

According to the police officer, the accused further informed investigators that he had been phoning the landline number of Pawar's apartment in south Mumbai, but because the NCP president did not interfere in the case and failed to take action against the party member, he made the death threat.
