Mamata Banerjee Injured: Election Commission has sought a detailed report on the incident in Nandigram while BJP and Congress leaders have cried foul as Mamata Banerjee alleged that she was "manhandled" by 4 to 5 people.

TMC's supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have been injured less than 20 days ahead of the first phase of West Bengal Assembly Polls. She was campaigning in the Nandigram assembly constituency when reports came in that she was gravely injured. As electioneering is taking its next gear in West Bengal it is hard to overlook this incident.

Election Commission has sought a detailed report on the incident while BJP and Congress leaders have cried foul as Mamata Banerjee alleged that she was "manhandled" by 4 to 5 people. BJP's national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya questioned the incident as to how could it happen amid the convoy she was surrounded by.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's Security

Every state has its own security details for the Chief Minister and their own protocols. The chief ministers get specially trained security personnel headed by an officer of the rank of SP. One DSP or SP always travels with them.

For Mamata Banerjee, at least two rings of 5 personnel each in the Close Protection Team (CPT) is present who move along with her like a shadow. Beside this one senior officer, IG or DIG rank is always available at the place of her visit to supervise the security deployment.

In West Bengal, Special Branch (SB) looks after the security of the Chief Minister and is headed by an Additional DG Rank officer.

Advance Security Liaison is also done before the Chief Minister's such visits. All security-related points, safe house, contingency hospital, contingency drill is discussed and rehearsed well in advance.

Security Lapse?

Mamata Banerjee has a proper CPT, CM security wing and special branch security personnel with her all the times. Advance deployment of SB is done for all of her visits. Sources inform that it is rather not possible that somebody can come close to her and attack her.
