Mumbai: The expanse of Covid-19 infection has now reached Maharashtra Raj Bhavan in Mumbai prompting Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari to go into self-isolation. As many as 16 people at Raj Bhavan, which is the official residence of the governor of Maharashtra have tested positive for Covid-19. In what can be a matter of concern, those tested positive also include staff working in close proximity to the governor. The Governor has been sent into isolation and will not be working for a few days. As per reports as many as 100 people were tested for Coronavirus out of which the result for 55 have been declared and 16 have tested positive with mild symptoms. The information breaks close on the heels of Bollywood mega star Amitabh Bachchan and son Abhishek Bachchan testing positive for Coronavirus. It is to be noted that the first reported case was that of a junior electrical engineer a few days ago. Mumbai is one of worst-affected cities in India hit by Covid-19 pandemic. Maharashtra has maximum number of Covid-19 cases and death toll. Most of the infections have been reported from Maharashtra, which has the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the country with 238,461, followed by Tamil Nadu with 130,261 and Delhi with 109,140. With 7,862 new cases, Maharashtra on Friday witnessed its highest-ever single-day record in fresh Covid-19 infections, taking the state burden to 2.38 lakh. Mumbai with 1,337 new cases has till now reported 90,461 infections. With 226 deaths registered on Friday, the toll in the state stands at 9,893.
