No Relief For Ex-Minister Anil Deshmukh As Mumbai Court Rejects Bail Plea In Corruption Case
The NCP leader was arrested on November 2, 2021, and has been in judicial custody and serving a prison sentence at Mumbai's Arthur Road jail.
A special CBI court in Mumbai on Friday denied bail to Anil Deshmukh, former Maharashtra home minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, in an alleged corruption and misuse of official position case being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), news agency PTI reported.

The premier investigation agency had filed a case against him in April 2021.
Deshmukh (71) had sought bail in the case as soon as the Bombay High Court granted him bail on October 4 in a money laundering case registered against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
After hearing arguments from both sides, Special CBI Court Judge S H Gwalani denied his plea. The detailed order of the court is not yet available, PTI reported.
The leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was arrested on November 2, 2021, and is currently in judicial custody.
Last week, he was admitted to a private hospital for coronary angiography.

In March 2021, senior IPS officer Param Bir Singh claimed that Deshmukh, the then-home minister, had given police officers a target of Rs 100 crore per month from Mumbai restaurants and bars.
Deshmukh resigned as home minister of the state in April 2021.
In April 2021, the Supreme Court directed the CBI to conduct a preliminary investigation. Based on the findings of this investigation, the CBI filed a first information report (FIR) against Deshmukh and his associates for alleged corruption and abuse of official power.
Similar allegations were levelled against former assistant police inspector Sachin Waze, who was arrested in the 'Antilia' bomb scare case in March 2021.
