Maharashtra: Four-Storey Building Collapses In Navi Mumbai, Rescue Work Underway

While a body has been recovered but the same has not been identified so far and people from the building were called to identify it, Fire Official Purushottam Jadhav said. 

New Delhi: A four-storey building in Navi Mumbai’s Bonkode Village in Kopar Khairane area collapsed on Saturday at around 10:30 pm, reported news agency ANI. At least 32 residents of the building had come out before it collapsed while the remaining 8 were evacuated immediately, said an official, quoted by the news agency. 

“About 32 people staying there had come out before the collapse. The remaining 8 people were coming out of the building when it collapsed. They were evacuated immediately. Our team is engaged in the rescue work, investigating underway, said Fire Officer, Purushottam Jadhav.

While a body has been recovered but the same has not been identified so far and people from the building were called to identify it, Jadhav said. 

“A body was found this morning but it has not been identified so far. We have called the people of the building to identify it. Our team is engaged in the rescue work, investigation underway,” he said. 

In August this year, a four-storey building had collapsed in Mumbai's Saibaba Nagar neighbourhood in Borivali West, the news agency had reported. The 4 storey Geetanjali building was located in Mumbai's Saibaba Nagar.

"At least eight fire engines and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot," as soon as the incident was reported, Brihanmumbai Corporation had said in a tweet. 

A video showed the building collapsing in rubble like a pack of cards had gone viral on the internet.
