Maharashtra: Six killed, several injured in an explosion in Pulgaon Army depot in Wardha

Pulgaon Army depot is a storage space for a lot of explosives, where old explosives are also destroyed from time to time.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, an explosion took place at Pulgaon Army depot in Maharashtra’s Wardha on Tuesday; leaving six people dead and 6 injured. The incident has caused hustle in nearby areas. Pulgaon Army depot is a storage space for a lot of explosives, where old explosives are also destroyed from time to time. As per sources, the incident took place when the exercise of destroying old explosives was underway. All the deceased are likely to be labourers. This incident comes after a similar incident took place in this army depot in 2016; where 15 people lost their lives; of which 2 were officers. The incident, which took place because of fire caused by explosion; also left 19 people injured. As per sources, the task of destroying the old bombs was handed over to a private company.
