9 Omicron Cases In Rajasthan, 7 In Maharashtra Push India’s Tally To 21

Mumbai: Maharashtra on Sunday detected seven more cases of the Covid-19 Omicron variant, and nine cases of Omicron variant have been detected in Rajasthan's Jaipur, taking the country’s tally to 21.

A health official said seven people from Pune district have tested positive for Omicron variant.

The official said they include a woman, who came from Nigeria along with her two daughters to meet her brother in adjoining Pimpri Chinchwad area.

He added that the woman’s brother and his two daughters have also tested positive for the variant, PTI reported.

The official further said another case is of a man from Pune who returned from Finland in November last week.

This is the eighth case in Maharashtra as earlier a marine engineer from Thane district had tested positive for the Omicron variant.

The 33-year-old man is currently undergoing treatment at a Covid-19 care centre in Kalyan town, around 50 km from Mumbai.

Earlier in the day, India reported its fifth case of the Omicron variant from Delhi.

The country had detected its first two cases of the Omicron variant from Karnataka earlier this week, while the third and fourth cases were reported from Gujarat’s Jamnagar and Mumbai respectively.
