Maharashtra BJP Leader Kirit Somaiya Detained At Karad Railway Station, Claims To Expose Scam

Somaiya been barred from entering Kolhapur by district authorities citing law and order as well as security concerns following his allegations of corruption against Maharashtra minister Hasan Mushrif

Mumbai:  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya, who was on the way to visit Kohlapur, was detained at Karad Railway Station in the Satara district on Monday. Ahead of his visit, Kolhapur District Collector had issued prohibitory orders against the leader and imposed Section 144, prohibiting gatherings on September 20 and 21, according to news agency ANI.

On Sunday, the BJP leader had alleged that he was detained at his residence in Mumbai.

The BJP leader came out strongly against the Maharashtra government questioning the orders restricting him from going out of Mumbai.

According to the BJP leader, he had been barred from entering Kolhapur by district authorities there citing law and order as well as security concerns following his allegations of corruption against Maharashtra minister Hasan Mushrif.

He was expected to visit Hasan Mushrif's Benami Sugar Factory on Monday. Somaiya claimed to expose scam of the MLA from Kagal in Kolhapur at a press conference shortly. “Police stopped Me at Karad under Prohibitory order 9 am Press Conference at Karad Circuit House I will expose 1 more scam of Hassan Mushrif,” he tweeted on Monday.

Earlier, Somaiya had levelled allegations of money laundering against Maharashtra Cabinet Ministers Chhagan Bhujbal and Anil Parab.

On September 13, Somaiya had accused Mushrif, minister for rural development as well as MLA from Kagal in Kolhapur, of indulging in corruption and holding 'benami' entities in the name of his kin. These allegations were dismissed by the latter.
