IITian Baba used to live in the Solah Mani Ashram of Juna Akhara, his guru Someshwar Puri Ji Maharaj has revealed that there is no information about his whereabouts. Another sadhu from Juna Akhara mentioned that he had become arrogant, believing that many people were inquiring about him and coming to meet him. He had started feeling that he could do anything.
Abhay Baba's parents also visited the Juna Akhara ashram to meet him, but he had already left, and they couldn't see their son. A sadhu remarked, "Abhay Singh had power within him, but he couldn't manage it. He was unwilling to accept anyone as a Guru."
Abhay Singh, a Haryana native, he studied aerospace engineering at IIT Bombay. He received the moniker "IITian Baba" for his academic background and fluent English communication. In an interview with CNN News18, he revealed, “After pursuing engineering, I ventured into travel photography. I went to Arts from engineering...However, sustaining myself was challenging without a steady job, so I taught physics at a coaching institute for a year.”
He said his struggles with engineering and travel photography led him to want to Dharamshala to "explore the basics" of life.
Abhay's path eventually led him away from worldly pursuits toward spiritual enlightenment. Speaking about his transformation, he said, “Knowledge is a never-ending pursuit, but ultimately, there’s nothing better than this path.”
The Kumbh Mela began on January 13 and will continue until Maha Shivratri on February 26.
