Lucknow: PM Modi inaugurates 81 projects worth Rs 60k crores; calls it 'record-breaking'

The ceremony marked the implementation of 81 out of the 1,045 Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) signed at the Uttar Pradesh Investors' Summit, held earlier in 2018.

New Delhi: On the second day of his UP visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 81 projects worth Rs 60, 000 crore at the ground-breaking ceremony in Lucknow on Sunday. The 81 investment projects are inaugurated in Lucknow at an event titled ‘Rising UP, Powering New India’, amid the presence of top industrialists of the country. The ceremony marked the implementation of 81 out of the 1,045 Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) signed at the Uttar Pradesh Investors' Summit, held earlier in 2018. The projects launched today, are aimed at creating around 2.1 lakh job opportunity in the state. Here are the main highlights of PM's speech during the event:
  • Rs 50,000 cr have been saved due to Ujala scheme under which LED bulbs were set up in households. Had I announced a concession of this amount, "Wah Wah Modi" would have been the headline.
  • In past three years, Rs 50,000 cr have been saved in electricity bills because of the LED bulbs were set up in households under Ujala scheme. If I had announced a concession of this amount, 'Wah Wah Modi' would have been the headlines for a week PM Modi in Lucknow
  • Today the nation is becoming a hub of mobile manufacturing for the world. Uttar Pradesh is leading this manufacturing revolution. More than 50 mobile manufacturing company are working in UP & the largest mobile manufacturing unit in the world has also been established here: PM
  • While addressing top BJP leaders and industrialists, PM Modi attacked the opposition, and said if the intentions are pure then there is no room for fear. Those who operate from behind veils are the ones who feel afraid."
  • He addressed the industrialists present at the event and acknowledged their contribution. He said that he was glad to note that the resolution taken at the summit held earlier, are achieved today.
  • He said 'These projects will prove to be a big step in giving a new direction to Digital India and Make in India. Be it setting up of fiber or establishment of IT center for internet service in Uttar Pradesh, digital infrastructure will give a new direction, new pace to the state'.
  • He said: “It is for the second time in the last 5 months that I am meeting my industrial friends in Lucknow. Last time we met for UP Investors Summit in February. I am elated that a huge step is being taken to deliver the promises made there on the ground: PM Modi in Lucknow.”
  • Speaking at the event PM said that the country is grappling with rain-induced incidents and floods. "We are in constant touch with the state governments for any assistance."
  At the event UP CM Yogi Adityantha said: "Uttar Pradesh has been successful in attaining a position in top 5 states in the country in terms of ease of doing business. "When BSP was in power, Rs.50,000 Cr was invested in 5 years, while the BJP govt. has invested Rs.60,000 Cr in just 1 year. Also, more proposals worth Rs.50,000 Cr are in pipeline which will be started soon," he said further. UP Governor Ram Naik, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and UP CM Yogi Adityanath are also present at the event. On Saturday, the Prime Minister, who is on a two-day visit to the state capital, attended the concluding session of 'Transforming Urban Landscape' convention here.
