Low-Pressure Area Forms Over South Andaman Sea, Likely To Intensify Into A Cyclonic Storm: IMD

The weather agency has cautioned fishermen who are out at sea off the east coast of India (from North Tamil Nadu to Odisha) are advised to return to the coast by December 1.

A well-marked low-pressure area lies over the South Andaman Sea and the adjoining areas of the Southeast Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday as it issued a warning regarding a developing weather system. IMD has issued a warning that it is very likely to intensify further as a cyclonic storm. In view of the aforementioned, light to moderate rainfall is expected across India in the next four days. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal will experience heavy rainfall from Wednesday to Friday. IMD in its bulletin said that scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorm activity is very likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad during November 29th-30th, over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 30th November with significant reduction thereafter. The Northwest plains are expected to witness light rainfall at isolated places during the next two days.

Rainfall Warning 

Light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorms & lightning at isolated places is very likely over West Madhya Pradesh during the next 2 days, over East Madhya Pradesh during the next 3 days and over Vidarbha during the next 24 hours.

Light to moderate isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorm activity at isolated places is very likely over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada during the next two days.

Light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm activity at isolated places is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe during the next five days.

Heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from November 29 to December 1; over Kerala and Mahe on November 30 and December 1.

High-Speed Wind Warning

Andaman Sea and Andaman & Nicobar Islands: Strong wind speed reaching 25-35 kmph gusting to 45 kmph is likely to prevail over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 29th November.

Southeast Bay of Bengal: Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail over Southeast Bay of Bengal on November 30. It is likely to increase becoming 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph on December 1 and Gale Wind speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph on December 2.

Southwest Bay of Bengal: Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely over adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal from December 1 morning. It would increase becoming Gale Wind speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph on December 2 morning.

Central Bay of Bengal: Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely over adjoining central Bay of Bengal on December 1 and is likely to become 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph on December 2.
