Lok Sabha Speaker says 'mere apology' by AAP MP won't resolve issue

New Delhi: Taking a stern view of AAP MP Bhagwant Mann uploading a video of Parliament's internal security on social media, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Friday said that it is "a serious issue" which cannot be resolved by a "mere apology". Mahajan said that action on the issue would be taken after consulting members of all political parties. "When he (Mann) met me, he said he is ready to apologise, but the issue isn't something that can be resolved by mere apology," Mahajan told reporters. "All members are agitated. It is a matter of security of the Parliament. I would have taken a prompt decision if it had been inside the House. It is a serious issue. I am talking to everyone as to what action should be taken," she said. The Aam Aadmi Party MP on Thursday shot a video clip of the journey from his residence to Parliament House, including going past the various security pickets, and uploaded it on social media, drawing flak from various quarters for putting the security of Parliament House in peril. Earlier, Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till Monday by the Speaker following pandemonium in the House as members, rising above party lines, demanded immediate action against the AAP member.
