L-G Manoj Sinha Assures Terrorism Will Be Wiped Out From J&K In Next Two Years

“We want to assure you that you will not see terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir after two years. The govt of India is working in this direction,” he said.

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that there will be no terrorism in the valley after two years. Sinha was speaking at a public gathering in Jammu, where he assured that the Indian government is working for the cause.

“We want to assure you that you will not see terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir after two years. The govt of India is working in this direction,” he said.

Sinha was at an award ceremony of EEPC India North Region Export. “Many people worry about the law and order situation. I want to tell you that the situation has changed a lot. Some elements are trying, but I want to assure you that after two years, terrorism will not be seen in Jammu and Kashmir, The government is working in this direction,” Sinha said while addressing the gathering.

Sinha’s statement can be seen in the context of increasing clashes in the valley in recent days. The Kashmir valley has been in turmoil recently after a gunfight between the militants and security forces in Hyderpora, Srinagar claimed the life of a building owner.

The police force has said that those killed in the gunfight were all militants who were aiding terrorists. However, the families of the deceased have disputed the police statement.

Since the encounter, the families of two of the deceased have been protesting outside the police station. The families demand the bodies of the dead as they were not returned due to apprehensions of law and order situation by the Jammu and Kashmir police.

Sinha had reviewed security in Kashmir last week, after a civilian and a police personnel were killed in the valley.
