Kritika Rawat, Tarini Rawat: CDS Bipin Rawat's Daughters Who Performed The Last Rites

New Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat were laid to rest at Brar Square crematorium in Delhi on Friday. Their two daughters, Kritika Rawat and Tarini Rawat, performed the last rites of their parents.
The eldest of the two daughters, Kritika, is married and has a son, who was snapped paying last respect to his grandparents. Tarini is an advocate and used to stay with her parents in the national capital, according to reports.
"After the cremation today at Delhi Cantonment's crematorium, we will be taking his 'asthi' (ashes) to Haridwar tomorrow," General Rawat's younger daughter, Tarini told news agency PTI.
In 2018, Bipin Rawat had last visited his native village in Pauri in Uttarakhand. He had plans to build a house there after his retirement, said his uncle Bharat Singh Rawat.
Bipin Rawat's maternal village is in Uttarkashi which he had last visited in 2019.
Madhulika Rawat, wife of General Bipin Rawat, was the daughter of the royal family of Sohagpur in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh. Her father's name was Kunwar Mrigender Singh.
Madhulika was the President of AWWA (Army Wives Welfare Association), one of the largest NGOs in India which looks after the welfare of wives, children, and dependents of army personnel. Previously, she was part of several welfare programs and campaigns that help the Veer Naris (Army widows), cancer patients and differently-abled children.
Madhulika completed her studies in Delhi and did her graduation in psychology from Delhi University.
Currently, her family lives in the ancestral residence ‘Rajabagh’ in the Shahdol district headquarter.
Jaipur-based Vijay Rawat, 60, younger brother of General Rawat, and a former Army officer, said, "I had spoken to him before he went to Tamil Nadu to attend the function at Wellington. Had never thought, fate would take him away from us."
Bipin Rawat’s brother-in-law, Yashwardhan Singh, said that the late General had promised to visit Shahdol next year and assured to take steps in setting up a Sainik school in the district.
Both Bipin Rawat and Madhulika Rawat were cremated on a common pyre and their ashes will be immersed in Haridwar, Singh said.
“Both Gen Rawat and my sister were cremated on a common pyre. We will pick the ashes early morning tomorrow in a ‘kalash’ and then head to Haridwar where the ashes will be immersed in Ganga and some rituals will be performed," Singh told news agency PTI.
