Kotkapura Firing Case: Former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal To Appear Before SIT On June 22

Badal, who was scheduled to appear before the SIT on June 16 for questioning in connection with this case, had earlier requested the investigating agency to re-schedule the same due to his ill- health stating that he has been advised complete bed rest for 10 days by the doctors.

Chandigarh: Former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal will appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the Kotkapura police firing case on June 22. Due to ill-health, Badal will appear before the SIT team at his official MLA flat in Chandigarh.

Badal, who was scheduled to appear before the SIT on June 16 for questioning in connection with this case, had earlier requested the investigating agency to re-schedule the same due to his ill- health stating that he has been advised complete bed rest for 10 days by the doctors.

Earlier in 2015, the police opened fire at the people protesting against the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in Kotkapura, Faridkot. The police opened fire after some of the protestors’ pelted stones at them.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had earlier in April quashed the probe reports submitted by the SIT in connection with 2015 Kotkapura firing. The newly-formed SIT is now probing the case.
