'Kill Terrorists In 15 Days Or...': Dhangri Residents' Ultimatum To Security Forces In J&K

The terrorist attack killed seven people and injured 14 others on January 1.

New Delhi: Residents of Dhangri in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district voiced alarm on Sunday over security authorities' "failure" to track down the terrorists behind the twin attacks in the village and sought justice for the victims.

If the security forces are unable to eliminate the terrorists over the next 15 days, the locals have threatened to go on a hunger strike.

The terrorist attack killed seven people and injured 14 others on January 1.

According to PTI, while five people, including two brothers, were killed in the firing by terrorists, two children died when an improvised explosive device (IED) left behind by the attackers went off the next day.

Hundreds of residents of Dhangri held a meeting at the attack site and paid floral tributes to the victims on Sunday, a villager said.

They expressed concern over the "failure" of security agencies in finding clues about the terrorists involved in the twin attacks, he further said.

Victims' family members demanded that efforts to identify the attackers be intensified.

The villagers threatened to launch a hunger strike if the security agencies are unable to neutralise the terrorists in the next 15 days.

A month ago on January 1, two terrorists barged into the houses of a particular community in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri and killed several locals.

Commenting on the attack, an official said, "The firing ended within 10 minutes. First, they attacked a house in Upper Dangri and then they moved 25 meters away and shot several people there. They also fired on another house 25 meters away from the second house while fleeing the village."

He had stated that a total of 10 people were hit by bullets and three of them were declared brought dead at the Government Medical College hospital, Rajouri.
