Kerala ‘Turning Into An Unlawful State’ Under CM Pinarayi Vijayan: Nadda Condemns Party Leader’s Murder

The BJP president’s critical remarks against Vijayan came as Sreenivasan was allegedly hacked to death at his home in Alappuzha by unidentified assailants earlier in the day.

New Delhi: Condemning the murder of his party’s OBC Morcha state secretary Renjith Sreenivasan, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president J.P. Nadda on Sunday alleged Kerala is turning into an unlawful state under Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s leadership.

“The brutal murder of OBC Morcha State Secretary Adv. Renjith Sreenivasan by ‘fundamentalist elements' is condemnable. Such cowardly acts cannot be tolerated. Kerala is turning into an unlawful state under CM @vijayanpinarayi. They can't scare us with their cruelty,” Nadda tweeted.

The BJP president’s critical remarks against Vijayan came as Sreenivasan was allegedly hacked to death at his home in Alappuzha by unidentified assailants earlier in the day.

40-year-old Sreenivasan, who contested the 2016 Kerala Assembly elections from the Alappuzha constituency, was an advocate by profession besides being a political leader.

The BJP leader was murdered a day after Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) leader K.S. Shan was allegedly attacked and later killed in the same district.

The Kerala Chief Minister has condemned the gruesome murders in Alappuzha and said steps will be taken by the police to nab the culprits and those behind them.

“Such narrow minded and inhumane acts is bad for the state. The murder groups and their hatred filled approach should be singled out and kept away from civil society,” Vijayan said.

Meanwhile, the administration has imposed Section 144 in Alappuzha district in the wake of the killings.

“More investigation is required. One murder occurred yesterday night and the second happened around 6:30 a.m. today. We have imposed Section 144 (and) questioning suspicious people. We are checking if there is any link between the murders,” Alappuzha Superintendent of Police G. Jaidev told ANI.
