Kerala Nursing Student Found Dead At Husband’s Home; Probe Underway Over 'Domestic Abuse'
Nikitha, daughter of Sunil and Geetha from Beecharikadavu Kalathilpurayil, got married to Vysakh, an automotive engineer working in the Gulf a few months back.

In Kerala, a 20-year-old nursing student was found dead at her husband’s residence in Taliparamba. The young woman, Nikitha, a resident of Valiyaparamba in Kasaragod district, was pursuing a dialysis technician course at Lourde Nursing College in Taliparamba.
Nikitha, daughter of Sunil and Geetha from Beecharikadavu Kalathilpurayil, got married to Vysakh, an automotive engineer working in the Gulf a few months back. Her body was discovered on February 17 at around 5:30 pm at her husband’s home in Nanicheri, near Taliparamba, according to a report on Mathrubhumi. According to preliminary reports, she was found hanging from the window of their bedroom.
The Taliparamba police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which deals with suspicious deaths, and have launched a detailed investigation. While the exact cause of death is yet to be determined, authorities are exploring all possibilities, including foul play or suicide.
This incident comes just weeks after another heartbreaking case in Kerala’s Malappuram district, where 19-year-old Shahana Mumthaz, a first-year BSc Mathematics student, was found dead at her home on January 14, reported India Today. Shahana had married Abdul Wahab, an Abu Dhabi-based worker, in May 2023. The couple spent only 22 days together after their wedding before Wahab returned to the UAE.
Shahana’s family has alleged that she faced relentless harassment from her husband and in-laws over her complexion and limited English proficiency. Her uncle, Abdul Salam, claimed that Wahab ignored her calls and sent her derogatory messages, criticizing her appearance and language skills. The Kondotty police have also registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS and are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
