Kerala floods: Delhi police contributes Rs 1 Cr

New Delhi [India], August 24 (ANI): The Delhi Police on Friday announced that it would contribute Rs 1 crore to the flood-ravaged Kerala.

The police would give the money to Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. The amount has been collected from the salary of Delhi police employees.

The state has been hit by the worst flood situation in a century. As many as 357 lives have been lost so far, and the state has incurred a loss of Rs 19,512 crore.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health approved an additional grant of Rs. 18.71 crore under the National Rural Health Mission

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also said on Friday, "Rs.16,000 will be transferred to the bank accounts of people who will leave relief camps and also to the people who have already left."

Apart from the nation, the state has been offered financial aid from several organisations, countries, and individuals.

The Central government has provided Rs.600 crore as advance assistance.

On Thursday, the Centre announced that additional funds would be released from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) on assessment of the damages in the flood-hit state as per laid down procedure.

Several Members of Parliament (MPs) and IAS Officers Association of Andhra Pradesh (IASOA -AP) also donated their one-day income to support Kerala.

That states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and several others extended help to the state. Celebrities from various field too offered aid in the wake of the situation.(ANI)
