Robbery Attempt Using Toy Guns Foiled In North Kashmir's Kupwara; Two Arrested
Robbers tried to trick the staff of the bank by pulling out toy guns but the employees were alert and managed to nab them with the help of locals.
Kupwara: Amid coronavirus lockdown, alert bank officials foiled a bank robbery attempt in North Kashmir's Kupwara when they overpowered two robbers with local help. ALSO READ | Is India In The Stage Of Community Transmission? A Look At States Which Have Admitted To It
The two men, wearing face masks, had used toy guns and threatened the staff of Grameen Bank but were apprehended.
According to the bank officials, two persons brandishing guns entered a Grameen Bank branch at Natnussa this afternoon and threatened the staff and customers to hand over the cash.
But the alert bank officials saw through the plan and overpowered the two people with the help of the locals. Both were handed over to the police who identified the two as Ashiq Ahmad and Javid Ahmad, both residents of the Kulangam area of Handwara.
However, the alert officials, as per the reports, caught hold of the duo and snatched the toy guns from them.
Police confirming the incident said that the duo has been taken into custody and necessary action as warranted by law will be initiated against them. However, it is not known how much cash was present at the branch at the time of the incident.
