Karnataka: BJP Questions Lokayukta Probe In MUDA Case, Alleges Bias Toward CM Siddaramaiah

Siddaramaiah, along with his wife Parvathi and brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, is accused in a case registered by the Lokayukta police under the direction of a Bengaluru special court.

After media reports surfaced suggesting that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family have been given a clean chit by the Lokayukta police, the BJP has raised concerns over the credibility of the Lokayukta probe into Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. Siddaramaiah, along with his wife Parvathi and brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, is accused in a case registered by the Lokayukta police under the direction of a Bengaluru special court.

Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R Ashoka, criticised the investigation, calling it a "sham." Sharing a Kannada daily report titled “MUDA case: Lokayukta clean chit to Siddaramaiah?” Ashoka alleged that the probe was designed to protect Siddaramaiah.

“It is not a Lokayukta report but a ‘Siddaramaiah Bachao report.’ Siddaramaiah, who weakened the Lokayukta during his first term and was reprimanded by the High Court, has now turned the institution into his puppet,” Ashoka said in a post on ‘X’.

"The Lokayukta's investigation into the Muda scam is a sham investigation, and the report submitted by the Lokayukta is merely a report to save Siddaramaiah," he added.

BJP state president BY Vijayendra also expressed skepticism and accused Lokayukta police of acting under pressure from the Chief Minister.

"No investigative agency gives information without basis. The Lokayukta hastily gave a clean chit to Siddaramaiah soon after the Enforcement Directorate submitted its report with evidence in the MUDA case," Vijayendra alleged on X.

The controversy revolves around allegations that Parvathi BM received 14 prime plots in Mysuru in exchange for three acres and 16 guntas of land in a remote village acquired by MUDA.

When questioned about the reports, Siddaramaiah denied any knowledge of the clean chit. “I don’t know about it. How can I comment on something I am not aware of?” he told reporters in Raichur, as per PTI, on Thursday.
