The Congress party took up the issue of Karnataka crisis in the Parliament and blamed BJP for trying to topple the government in the state. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh refuted the allegations and said that BJP has nothing to do with the crisis in the state.

New Delhi: In a bid to save the wobbly coalition government in Karnataka, Congress and JDS ministers resigned from their posts to accommodate the disgruntled MLAs who have withdrawn their support from the government. Cabinet reshuffle will happen soon, informed Karnataka CM's office on Twitter. While state level leaders were seen holding deliberations and hectic parleys to pull the government out of the precarious situation, at the national level, Congress took up the issue in the Parliament and blamed BJP for trying to topple the government in Karnataka. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh refuted the allegations and said that BJP has nothing to do with the crisis in the state. Here are the top developments of the day: 1) “BJP has nothing to do with what’s going on in Karnataka”, says Rajnath Singh Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said “It is a political conspiracy by Centre to break Karnataka government as they don't want opposition government anywhere. Responding to him, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said  that BJP has nothing to do with what's going on in Karnataka. It is not the trait of BJP to indulge in horse-trading of MLAs.” 2) All Congress ministers resign to vacate posts for disgruntled MLAs Karnataka Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah said Monday noon that 21 karnataka Congress ministers have resigned from their posts. Earlier in the day, Deputy CM G Parameshwara who held a breakfast meeting with Congress ministers, said that if need arose the ministers may also resign to vacate posts for the disgruntled MLAs. 3) 9 JDS ministers likely to submit resignation: 9 JDS ministers are likely to submit their resignation letters to CM HD Kumaraswamy shortly. After which CM will submit their resignations to Governor.  This is to make seats vacant for rebel MLAs in a bid to pacify them. 4) Congress leader Zameer Ahmed Khan claims 6-7 rebel MLAs will return by evening: Karnataka Minister Zameer Ahmed Khanexuded confidence that the threat to the gvernmnet will eventually get over as most of rebel MLAs will make way back to their parties. He said: “By today evening, at least 6-7 MLAs of the 10 MLAs who are in the BJP camp are going to come back. 5) JDS books 35 rooms in resort to lodge its MLAs: As one more MLA of the government resigned today, the JDS has booked 35 rooms in Paddington resort in Kodagu to lodge its MLAs. Booking has been made for 3 nights from Monday. It is the same resort where TTV Dinakaran MLAs stayed last time. 6) Independent MLA H Nagesh resigns from ministerial post: Minister in Karnataka cabinet and independent MLA H Nagesh resigned from his post on Monday, pushing the already crippled coalition government further on the brink. “I've already withdrawn my support to government headed by HD Kumaraswamy. I would further by this letter unequivocally state I would extend my support to the Govt of BJP if called for by your good self,” he stated in his letter. 7) H Nagesh spotted with Yeddyurappa’s PA: BS Yeddyurappa's PA Santhosh was spotted along with H Nagesh, after the latter tendered his resignation from Ministerial post in the morning and flying to Mumbai to join the Rebel MLAs, even as the BJP kept on denying any role in the situation. 8) Congress blames BJP for engineering defections in the party: Congress leaders are blamed the Bharatiya janata party for engineering defections in the alliance. Deputy CM G Parameshwara before the breakfast meeting at his residence had said, “we all know what BJP is trying to do.” Terming the BJP a "poacher party"in the Lok Sabha, Congress leader Adhir ranjan Chowdhury blamed BJP for trying to lure its MLAs by keeping them in luxurious resorts. On Sunday, senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah had also stated “BJP is behind all these defections”. 9) We welcome MLA Nagesh, but not in touch with any rebel MLAs: BJP leader We welcome Impendent MLA Nagesh (who resigned as minister). We will accept anybody into our party who is from non-political dispensation. We're not in touch with any rebels of the Congress and JD(S), as long as they are with their parties, said Karnataka BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje 10) Kumaraswamy fails to convince rebel MLAs: Even as Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy went into a huddle with the coalition leaders RPT coalition leaders in a last ditch attempt to save his 13 month old alliance government, hit by resignations of over a dozen Congress-JD(S) MLAs, disgruntled MLAs camped in Mumbai Sunday made it clear they will not withdraw. Strength in Assembly: The Congress-JD(S) government has plunged into crisis, with 13 MLAs of the alliance submitting their resignations to the speaker so far. The ruling coalition faces the risk of losing its majority if the resignations are accepted. The JD(S)-Congress coalition's total strength after Nagesh withdrawing his support is 117 (Congress-78, JD(S)-37, BSP-1 and Independents-1), besides the speaker. The BJP has 105 MLAs in the House, where the half-way mark is 113. If the resignations of the MLAs  are accepted, the coalition's tally will be reduced to 104. The speaker also has a vote.
