Karnataka BJP Slams DK Shivakumar Over Video Showing Him Pushing Congress Women Workers

The viral video was reportedly captured during Congress Adhiveshan which was scheduled to commemorate the centenary of 1924 Congress session in Belagavi.

The BJP slammed Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar over a video that showed him allegedly pushing female Congress workers at party event in Belagavi on Thursday. The viral video was reportedly captured during the Congress Adhiveshan which was scheduled to commemorate the centenary of the 1924 Congress session in the city.

Sharing the video, BJP IT cell incharge Amit Malviya said, "This is Congress’s idea of women empowerment. In this video, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is seen shoving women workers, as if they were cattle, at the Congress’s Adhiveshan in Belgavi… Shameful."

Taking to X, BJP Andhra Pradesh unit vice president Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said, "This is Congress’s idea of Women Empowerment Karnataka Deputy CM @DKShivakumar  is pushing and shoving women karyakartas at the Congress Adhiveshan in Belagavi, treating them like they are nothing."

"Is this how Congress treats women? Disgraceful and disgusting!" he said. However, the video was not independently verfied by ABP Live.

Earlier, the BJP in Karnataka has announced a protest at Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Bengaluru on Friday, not only condemning Shivakumar's actions but also accusing the Congress of misusing public funds for the event, as per a report on India Today. The party alleged that state resources were improperly allocated to organize the Belagavi Adhiveshan.

However, the Congress declared that all party events including the foundation day celebrations scheduled for December 27 would stay cancelled due to the mourning of ex-PM Manmohan Singh's demise.
