Karnataka: 10 Dead, 15 Injured In Truck Accident At Uttara Kannada
The victims were commuting from Savanur to Kumta market for selling vegetables.

At least 10 individuals were killed and 15 others sustained injuries after a truck they were travelling met with an accident on Wednesday. The victims were commuting from Savanur to Kumta market for selling vegetables.
SP Narayana M, Karwar, Uttara Kannada said, "10 died and 15 injured after a truck carrying them met with an accident early morning today. All of them were travelling to Kumta market from Savanur to sell vegetables."

The injured are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.
SF Kammar, KMC hospital Director said, "One patient was brought dead ( to the hospital). The rest of the 11 injured are admitted to our emergency department...these patients are going to be evaluated, right now they are out of danger but continuous monitoring is required..."
Following the mishap, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah announced Rs 2 lakh ex gratia to the kin of the deceased members. Siddaramaiah said, "The families of those who died in two separate accidents at Yallapur in Uttara Kannada district and Sindhanur in Raichur district will be given compensation of Rs 3 lakh each by the state government. Arrangements will be made for free treatment of those injured in the accident."
"Additionally, arrangements will be made for free treatment for those injured in the accidents. Haste, overspeeding, and negligence are the main causes of accidents. I appeal to everyone to drive cautiously and stay safe," CM Siddaramaiah urged, as per IANS.
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel HD Kumaraswamy accused inadequate road infrastructure and violations of traffic rules as cause for the accidents.
