NEW DELHI: Nobel Prize winner and child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi has been invited by the RSS for its event to be held in Nagpur on October 18. Satyarthi will be the chief guest at the Sangh's Vijayadashmi function, PTI said quoting a top RSS functionary. Kailash Satyarthi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with Malala Yousafzai in 2014 for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has invited the social activist to attend its annual Vijayadashmi function as chief guest on October 18, and he has agreed, the Sangh's Joint General Secretary Manmohan Vaidya said. During the Vijayadashmi event, the Sangh chief puts forth the organisation's views on several important issues, including those of national importance, making it the most-awaited event in the RSS. The Sarsanghchalak also outlines the organisation's next year's objectives. The RSS was founded by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar on Vijayadashmi in 1925. In 2017, the Sangh invited Sant Nirmal Das Maharaj, a Dalit Sikh religious leader as the chief guest. The move was seen as an attempt by the organisation to reach out to the Scheduled caste as Nirmal Das Maharaj was the first SC leader invited as the chief guest at RSS function. Last month, the saffron organisation organised a three-day outreach conclave in the national capital, in which its chief Mohan Bhagwat deliberated on"Bhavishya Ka Bharat -- An RSS Perspective".
