Sharma who was identified as the masked woman in the JNU violence, has lodged a complaint against a national news channel.

New Delhi: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has registered a complaint from Komal Sharma, the student of Daulat Ram College of Delhi University, who was identified as the masked woman in the JNU violence, against the director and reporter of a national news channel. Sharma, who is an ABVP member, has alleged that she was falsely implicated by the channel in its sting operation. She alleged the channel of defaming her by naming her as one of the attackers in the JNU violence that tore through the campus on January 5. She said she was never approached by the channel for any sort of clarification or confirmation. She has requested the commission to look into the matter. Sharma was allegedly identified by the police as the woman, wearing a checkered shirt with her face covered with a light blue scarf and carrying a stick, in the purported video of the campus violence shared on social media. The police said Sharma's phone was found to be switched off since Saturday night. The police have so far issued notices to nine accused asking them to join the investigation into the JNU violence. Seven out of the nine suspects are from Left organisations. Out of the seven accused, three - JNUSU President Aishe Gosh, Bhaskar Vijay and Pankaj joined the investigation on Monday.
